Description and features
The Muricea gorgonian is an impressive, tree- or fan-shaped horn coral that immediately catches the eye with its strong branches and lively polyps. Thanks to its characteristic, branched structure, it provides structure, shaded areas and a harmonious interplay of currents in the marine aquarium.
Keeping and care
Muricea is one of the more robust gorgonian species, which grow reliably with sufficient nutrient availability and a good current. It prefers medium to strong currents in order to spread its polyps optimally and filter food efficiently. As active filter-feeders, Muricea species absorb dissolved nutrients, plankton and fine dust food, making them valuable supporters of the biological balance in the aquarium. It can be kept well in mixed reef tanks and harmonizes easily with fish, invertebrates and other soft corals.
This coral is 'off the shelf'.
This means that this is not a single animal with an original photo. You will receive an offshoot of the same species as shown in the photo. As these are animals, growth and color may vary depending on water values, age or light. With zoas, the number of polyps can also vary - but there are usually more rather than fewer polyps on the offshoots that go out to you.
