Beschreibung
The Alveopora, also known as marguerite coral, is a particularly easy to care for LPS coral and therefore ideal for beginners to the marine aquarium. With its long, elegantly waving polyps, it brings movement to the reef and at the same time ensures greater biological stability in the tank.
This coral has been an integral part of our nano, LPS and SPS systems for years - because it is extremely adaptable, resistant and fast-growing.
Why Alveopora is the perfect starter LPS
-
Very robust and adaptable
-
Tolerates low and high nutrient levels
-
Copes with little to a lot of light
-
Low nettling behavior
-
Rapid growth
-
Supports the stability of the aquarium
-
Long, decorative polyps (up to approx. 15 cm possible)
Keeping & care
Light
The Alveopora is extremely flexible.
It thrives both with moderate lighting in a nano aquarium and with stronger lighting in the lower range of an SPS system (up to approx. 250-300 PAR).
Recommendation:
Middle to lower reef area.
Flow
Preference is given to a Moderate, turbulent flow, so that the polyps can wag freely and naturally.
A one-sided continuous flow should be avoided, as this can lead to skewed growth.
Nutrients
The Alveopora is extremely tolerant:
-
Works with very low nutrients (e.g. PO4 ~0.02)
-
Can also cope with increased nutrient levels
-
Ideal for freshly started pools
Thanks to its large polyp surface, it can efficiently absorb particles and organic compounds from the water.
Socialization
Compared to more sensitive LPS species such as the Goniopora the Alveopora is much less complicated.
It has long polyps, but shows very little to no aggressive cnidarian behavior. This makes it well suited for mixed reef aquariums.
Nevertheless, as with all corals, sufficient space should be planned.
Growth & stability
Alveopora grows rapidly and actively contributes to the biological stabilization of the system. It ensures visible growth and dynamics in the reef, especially in beginner tanks.
Parasites & care instructions
-
No species-specific pests known
-
Occasionally harmless flatworms can occur
-
A short freshwater dip is possible if required (robust type)
